Tihar is een van de belangrijkste festivals in Nepal dat kort na Dashain wordt gevierd. Het is het festival van het Licht. Overal worden huizen uitbundig versierd met alle mogelijke lichtjes en zorgen zo voor magische sfeer. Overal verschijnen ook kleurige kunstwerken op de vloer gemaakt van gekleurde rijs, bloem of zand en bloemblaadjes. Je ziet ze in openbare ruimten maar ook in huizen. De een is nog mooier dan de ander. Ze zijn bedoeld om verschillende Hindoe goden en godinnen te verwelkomen en eren. Tijdens Tihar worden verschillende dieren vereerd. Op dag 1 zijn dat kraaien en raven. Zij krijgen allerlei lekkernijen aangeboden. Het voeren van deze dieren wordt gedaan om alle mogelijke calamiteiten te voorkomen.

🌍💔 Children without a home, but not without hope. 🇳🇵👧👦 In Nepal, thousands of children grow up in children’s homes. Not always because they are orphans, but often because their families simply can’t take care of them — due to poverty, natural disasters, remote living conditions, social insecurity, and inequality. These children miss not only their families, but also the warmth of a safe home and the personal attention that only a loving family can give (when it’s able to function well). Whithout help, their future opportunities are limited. 🎒📚💡Yet they dream. They want to become teachers, doctors, dancers — or simply… just be children. 💭✨That’s certainly true for the children in the homes that 4 Smiling Faces supports for many years. Despite the loving care they receive there, life remains difficult. Let’s not forget these children. Together, we can contribute to better care, brighter futures, and—where possible—family reunification. Because every child deserves a chance. 🩷 🩷 Take part and give 👉
