2012 Bo’ai Daycare

Bo’ai Daycare for Bo’ai Daycare for children with a mental disability is located in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. (Contact with Bo’ai is very difficult because nobody there is able to communicate in English. That is why our activities here are very limited.)

These are the projects we did in Bo’ai daycare

Bo’ai Day care for children with intellectual disabilities has been created to provide these children with appropriate forms of education. The daycare helps 31 children aged 6 to 15 years. The children are cared for five days a week and spend the rest of the time at home with their parents.

The centre is located in Xi’an, Shaanxi province in China.

Bo’ai doesn’t have a website
Bo’ai means ‘Love for all’
The centre was founded on September 1, 2001.

The vision behind Bo’ai Daycare is that all children are entitled to a good and appropriate education. With appropriate education, the children learn to be the best they can be. The sisters that work with the children help with their behaviour, dealing with feelings and all kinds of life skills. That way, they want to improve the quality of their life. The 10 sisters working at Bo’ai are specially trained for that task.

They spend a considerable part of their lives caring for these forgotten children.

The children at Bo’ai are there 5 days a week. Mornings start with exercise. By moving and performing certain tasks, the children work on their physical condition while their brains are stimulated.

Then the children go into three different classes. During the lessons the focus is on basic issues such as name, age, date, composition of the family, etc. After that, there is time for songs and dancing.

Around noon is time for lunch, which is followed by an afternoon nap. At 3 o’clock is time for more exercise, followed by more classes. At the end of the afternoon, their parents pick up the children.

Communication with Bo’ai is difficult because no one in or around the centre is able to communicate in English.
