Tshering, Fudoma and Ellie grew up together in the DRC Nepal. Thanks to a scholarship from 4 Smiling Faces, they are now certified nurses. They tell themselves what that means for them.

Tshering, Fudoma en Ellie zijn samen opgegroeid in de DRC Nepal. Dankzij een beurs van 4 Smiling Faces zijn ze inmiddels gediplomeerde verpleegkundige. Ze vertellen zelf wat dat voor hen betekent.

Thanks to a scholarship from 4 Smiling Faces, the following young people have completed their education, are working, building their own independent lives and making their own choices. We are very proud of these beautiful people who make Nepal a better place!
Fudoma is a former resident of the DRC. She has been a PCL-certified nurse since 2018. She is currently working in the neonatal intensive care unit of Nepal’s largest teaching hospital, the Nepal Medical College in Kathmandu.
Kabita is a former resident of the NWCSS orphanage. She has been a PCL-certified nurse since 2018. She worked as a surgical assistant for a few years at, among others, the OM Hospital and Research Center in Kathmandu. In 2023, she was given the opportunity to continue her studies in Japan from another source.
Maya is a former resident of the DRC. She completed the then-existing extended school program Plus 2 Management in 2019. Since then, she has worked as a secretary. She has now married the man of her own choice, and they run their own business together in Kathmandu.
Tshering is a former resident of the DRC. She has been a PCL-certified nurse since 2020. She is currently working in the intensive care unit of the OM Hospital and Research Center in Kathmandu.
Lhamu is a former resident of the DRC. She has been a PCL-certified nurse since 2020. Since 2023, she has been living with her father and his family in Saudi Arabia. She works there in a large academic hospital.
Ellie is a former resident of the DRC. She has been a PCL-certified nurse since 2020. She is currently working in the general surgical department of OM Hospital and Research Center in Kathmandu.
Tashi is a former resident of the DRC. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management since 2022. He completed his final internship in a 5-star hotel in Dubai, where he is currently still working.
Thanks to a scholarship from 4 Smiling Faces, the following young people are still busy with their education and are working towards their own independent lives.
Gita is a highly valued volunteer at the after-school program SHCOP. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies since 2020, specializing in accounting. Due to Covid 19, she was unable to apply for a job for a long time and she continues to learn. She has now obtained her teaching qualification and will start her master’s degree in the fall of 2023.
We know Passang from the DRC’s outpatient program. She is a PCL-certified Medical Laboratory Technician since spring 2023 and is now working in a recognized laboratory in Kathmandu to gain work experience. After one or two years she will continue her studies for the Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
Rashmi is a former resident of the DRC. She is a PCL-certified Civil Engineer since spring of 2023 and is now working in a company in Kathmandu to gain work experience. After one or two years she will continue her studies for the Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Suddha is a former resident of the NWCSS orphanage. She started the 4-year Bachelor degree in Computer Applications in 2021.
Mangala is a former resident of the NWCSS orphanage. She started the 4-year Bachelor degree in Political Science and Rural Development in 2022. She receives a scholarship from 4 Smiling Faces starting in 2023.
Sachina is a former visitor and now a valued volunteer of the after-school program SHCOP. She started the 3-year PCL-course Nursing in 2023.
Sabina is a former visitor and now a valued volunteer of the after-school program SHCOP. She started the 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications in 2023.
We know Anusha through the outpatient program of the NWCSS orphanage. She started the 3-year PCL Computer Science course in 2020.
We know Nisha through the outpatient program of the NWCSS orphanage. She started the 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies in 2023.
Brother and sister Ushtav and Ushika have been regular visitors to the SHCOP after-school program for years. They are still in high school. We support them because they were particularly affected by the earthquakes of 2015. They work very hard, are smart and have a bright future.

Maya is voormalig bewoner van de DRC. Ze heeft in 2019 het toen nog bestaande verlengde schoolprogramma Plus 2 Management afgerond. Sindsdien heeft ze gewerkt als secretaresse. Inmiddels is ze getrouwd met de man van haar eigen keuze en runnen ze samen hun eigen bedrijfje in Kathmandu.

Lhamu is voormalig bewoner van de DRC. Ze is sinds 2020 PCL gediplomeerd verpleegkundige. Sinds 2023 woont ze bij haar vader en zijn gezin in Saudi-Arabië. Ze werkt daar in een groot academisch ziekenhuis.

Tashi is voormalig bewoner van de DRC. Hij is sinds 2022 Bachelor in Hotelmanagement. Hij heeft zijn eindstage gelopen in een 5-sterrenhotel in Dubai, waar hij na zijn afstuderen nog steeds werkt.
De volgende jongeren zijn dankzij een beurs van 4 Smiling Faces nog druk met hun opleiding en werken zo toe naar hun eigen, onafhankelijke leven.
Gita is een zeer gewaardeerd vrijwilliger van de buitenschoolse opvang SHCOP. Ze is sinds 2020 Bachelor in Business Studies met als specialiteit accountactie. Door Covid 19 kon ze lang niet solliciteren en leert ze verder. Ze heeft inmiddels haar onderwijskwalificatie behaald en start najaar 2023 met haar mastersopleiding.

Since the summer of 2023 Mangala receives a scholarship from 4 Smiling Faces. She introduces herself.
She wants to become a lawyer and explains why.
Mangala would like to continue part of her education abroad and she already knows exactly where she would like to go.
She is very happy with the help and support she gets form 4 Smiling Faces.
Mangala thanks everyone who makes it possible for her to make her dreams come true.

De kinderen van de Lotus familie willen allemaal doorstuderen na hun middelbare school; sommigen hebben al duidelijke plannen, anderen nog niet zo ver omdat ze nog jong zijn. Wij willen hen allemaal helpen om hun dromen te verwezenlijken. Daarvoor is heel veel geld nodig. Helpt u mee? Daarmee geven we hen een ongelooflijk cadeau: een onafhankelijke toekomst die ze zelf vorm geven en waarin ze hun eigen keuzes maken.
Voor deze jongens begint hun toekomst dit jaar nog. Ze zijn bijna klaar met de middelbare school en willen door met hun vervolgopleiding. Daarvoor is dringend geld nodig.
Voor de rest van de kinderen hebben we gelukkig iets meer tijd om een beurs bij elkaar te sparen; neemt niet weg dat ook voor hun toekomst alle bijdragen meer dan welkom zijn.
The children of the Lotus family all want to continue their studies after they finish high school; some already have clear plans, others don’t yet because they are still young. We want to help them all realize their dreams. That requires a lot of money. Will you help? In doing so, we give them an incredible gift: an independent future that they shape themselves and make their own choices.
For these boys, their future starts this year. They have almost finished high school and want to continue their further education. Money is urgently needed for this.
Fortunately, we have a little more time to save up scholarships for the rest of the children; however, this does not alter the fact that all contributions towards their future are more than welcome.
This year, 4 of our scholarship recipients have completed their training: Sabina has passed the extended school period Plus2 Business Management and is now continuing with her Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). Sachina has passed her Year 10 exam (SEE) and is continuing for PCL Nursing. Here you learn more about them.
Passang has completed her PCL Labtechnique and is now pursuing her Bachelors in the same field. Rashmi has passed her PCL Civil Engineering. She will now first gain 1 or 2 years of work experience and then want to continue with her Bachelor of Civil Engineering.

Dit jaar hebben 4 van onze beursontvangers hun opleiding afgerond: Sabina is geslaagd voor de verlengde schoolperiode Plus2 Businessmanagement en gaat nu door voor haar Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). Sachina is geslaagd voor haar jaar 10 examen (SEE) en gaat door voor PCL Verpleegkunde. Hier kom je meer over hen te weten.
Passang is klaar met haar PCL Labtechnique en gaat nu door voor haar Bachelors in hetzelfde veld. Rashmi is geslaagd voor haar PCL Civil Engeneering. Zij gaat nu eerst 1 of 2 jaar werkervaring opdoen en wil daarna door voor haar Bachelor of Civil engeneering.

Mangala ontvangt met ingang van 2023 een beurs van 4 Smiling Faces. Ze stelt zichzelf voor.
Ze wil advocaat worden en legt uit waarom.
Mangala zou graag een deel van haar opleiding in het buitenland vervolgen en ze weet ook al precies waar ze naar toe zou willen.
Ze is erg blij met de hulp en steun die ze krijgt van 4 Smiling Faces.
Mangala bedankt iedereen die het mogelijk maakt dat zij haar dromen waar kan maken.
Mangala kijkt vooruit naar een mooie toekomst.
In 2022, we requested special attention in our fund applications for Sachina, a promising pupil of the after-school program SHCOP. She could and desperately wanted to continue her studies, but her family could not possibly finance this. Fortunately, we have managed to raise sufficient funds and Sachina can start her further education in 2023: PCL Nursing.
Sachina and her sister Sabina symbolize many more girls and boys who we already help with a scholarship or who we would really like to help. The sisters have been regular visitors to the SCHOP, which we support. They are now mainly active there as enthusiastic volunteers.
The girls came to the program in 2015because the village where they grew up was completely destroyed during the earthquakes. Miraculously, they, their mother and brother survived. Unfortunately, their father did not. They fled to Kathmandu, where life was and is not easy for them. The family is poor and in Nepal there is no support for single parents.
Fortunately, there was room for the sisters and their brother at the after-school program where they received the necessary support (care, nutrition, attention, homework guidance). Partly because of this, the girls were able to complete their secondary school education in a glorious manner.
Sachina and Sabina are very smart girls who enjoy learning. They are therefore very keen to continue their studies. Not only for themselves but especially to support their mother and brother and improve their lives. When they finish studying, they go to work and want to contribute to their brother’s further education and make their mother’s life a little easier. Paying it forward!
In 2022 vroegen we in onze fondsaanvragen speciale aandacht voor Sachina, een veelbelovende pupil van de buitenschoolse opvang SHCOP. Ze kon en wilde dolgraag verder studeren, maar haar familie kon dat onmogelijk financieren. Gelukkig zijn we er in geslaagd om voldoende fondsen te werven en kan Sachina in 2023 starten met haar vervolgopleiding: PCL Verpleegkunde.
Sachina en haar zus Sabina staan symbool voor veel meer meisjes en jongens die we nu al helpen met een beurs of die we heel graag zouden willen helpen. De zusjes zijn al jaren vaste bezoekers van de buitenschoolse opvang SHCOP, die we ondersteunen. Inmiddels zijn ze daar vooral actief als enthousiaste vrijwilligers.
De meiden kwamen indertijd naar de opvang omdat het dorp waar ze zijn opgegroeid tijdens de aardbevingen van 2015 volledig is vernietigd. Als door een wonder hebben zij, hun moeder en broertje dat overleeft. Hun vader helaas niet. Ze zijn gevlucht naar Kathmandu, waar het leven voor hen niet gemakkelijk was en is. Het gezin is arm en in Nepal is er geen ondersteuning voor alleenstaande ouders.
Gelukkig was er plaats voor de zusjes en hun broertje bij de buitenschoolse opvang waar ze de nodige ondersteuning (opvang, voeding, aandacht, huiswerkbegeleiding) kregen. Mede daarom hebben de meiden hun middelbare schoolopleiding op glorieuze wijze kunnen afronden.
Sachina en Sabina zijn hele slimme meiden die leren leuk vinden. Ze gaan dan dan ook heel graag verder studeren. Niet alleen voor hen zelf, maar vooral ook om hun moeder en broertje te ondersteunen en hun leven te verbeteren. Als ze klaar zijn met studeren, gaan ze aan het werk en willen ze bijdragen aan de vervolgopleiding van hun broertje en het leven van hun moeder wat makkelijker maken. Paying it forward!
This year, one of our scholarship recipients completed his training: Tashi. He is now a Bachelor of Hotel Management. He currently working in a 5-star hotel in Dubai, where he also completed his final internship. Tashi’s long-term plan is to come back to Nepal, support his father and possibly start his own hotel.

Dit jaar heeft een van onze beursontvangers zijn opleiding afgerond: Tashi. Hij is nu Bachelor of Hotelmanagement. Op dit moment werkt hij in een 5 sterren hotel in Dubai, waar hij ook zijn slotstage heeft gelopen. Tashi’s lange termijnplan is om terug te komen naar Nepal, zijn vader te ondersteunen en mogelijk zijn eigen hotel te starten.

Rashmi completed the PCL Civil Engineering course in the spring of 2023 and is now gaining work experience in Kathmandu. After one or two years she continues for her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
