What is the problem?

Winters in Kathmandu are cold and the houses are not heated. Warm clothing is therefore vital. In the Lotus Family, clothes are passed on to the younger family members, but that shouldn’t and can’t always be the case. Moreover, the youngest/little ones cannot always walk around in pass-throughs. There is no money for new clothes.

What is the solution?

We finance warm new clothes for everyone.

Wat is the result?

Everybody has new warm winter clothes. Everybody happy. Smiling faces al arround.

Wat is het probleem?

De winters in Kathmandu zijn koud en de huizen zijn niet verwarmd. Warme kleding is dus van levensbelang. Bij de Lotus familie worden kleren doorgegeven aan de jongere gezinsleden, maar dat houdt een keer op. Bovendien kunnen de jongsten/kleinsten niet altijd in doorgevertjes rondlopen. Geld voor nieuwe kleren is er niet. 

Wat is de oplossing?

Wij betalen voor nieuwe warme kleren voor iedereen.

Wat is het resultaat?

Iedereen heeft nieuwe warme winterkleren. Iedereen blij. Smiling faces.

Wat is het probleem?

De geiser is stuk en dus is het douchewater koud. Normaal al geen pretje, maar in de winter onaanvaardbaar.

Wat is de oplossing?

Aankoop en installatie van een nieuwe geiser.

Wat is het resultaat?

Iedereen kan weer onder een warme douche.

What is the problem?

The geyser is broken and so the shower water is cold. Normally no fun, but unacceptable in winter.

What is the solution?

Purchase and installation of a new geyser.

What is the result?

Everyone can take a hot shower again.

What is the problem?

On the occasion of the most important Hindu festival Dashain, children in Nepal traditionally receive new clothes and shoes. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the children of the SHCOP after-school program, because their families don’t have the money to do that. For that reason, the SHCOP honours the tradition. However, there is no budget for such extras.

What is the solution?

4 Smiling Faces makes it possible to honour this significant tradition for these children.

What is the result?

All children receive new clothes and shoes. For many of them, it is the only time in the year that they ever get something completely new, especially and only for themselves. 4 Smiling Faces does this not only because it is tradition, but especially because they really need it. It goes without saying that growing children regularly require new clothes regularly and can’t live forever with clothes that have already been worn out by older children. And if we honour an important tradition, that’s a bonus.

What is the problem?

The old television is broken. Winter is also coming and playing outside is less an less possible. The program also wants to offer the children a little relaxation at the end of the day.

What is the solution?

Buying a new television. 

What is the result?

At the end of the afternoon and after homework has been done, the children can watch a bit of  television. That’s extra special because they don’t have one at home.

The most significant Hindu festival of Nepal is approaching: Dashain. Children in Nepal traditionally receive new clothes. The Lotus Family has no money to maintain that tradition.

What is the solution?

4 Smiling Faces paid for new clothes for all eleven children.

What is the result?

All children are provided with new clothes and shoes. Everyone happy. 4 Smiling Faces does this not only because it is tradition, but especially because they need it. It goes without saying that growing children regularly require new clothes and if we also honour an important tradition, then that is a bonus.

Het behoeft geen uitleg dat opgroeiende kinderen geregeld nieuwe kleren nodig hebben en als we daarmee ook nog een belangrijke traditie ere houden, dan is dat extra mooi.

Voor velen van hen is het de enige keer in eht jaar dat ze iets helemaal nieuws krijgen, speciaal en alleen voor henzelf. 4 Smiling Faces doet dit niet alleen omdat het traditie is, maar vooral ook omdat ze die echt nodig hebben. Het behoeft geen uitleg dat opgroeiende kinderen geregeld nieuwe kleren nodig hebben en niet eeuwig kunnen leven met kleding die eigenlijk al is afgedragen door oudere kinderen. En als we daarmee een belangrijke traditie ere houden is dat mooi meegenomen.

Wat is het probleem?

De Lotus familie bestaat uit 11 kinderen en 3 volwassenen. Een vol huis dus, dat goed schoongehouden moet worden. Tot op heden was er geen stofzuiger en werden de ruimten met de hand geborsteld. Dat is niet alleen zwaar werk, maar ook tijdrovend. Tijd die er eigenlijk niet is.

Wat is de oplossing?

De oplossing is aanschaf van een grote, stevige stofzuiger die tegen een stootje kan.

Wat is het resultaat?

Het resultaat is in minder tijd een schoner huis en dat is winst voor iedereen.

What is the problem?

The Lotus family consists of 11 children and 3 adults. A full house that needs to be kept clean. Until now there was no vacuum cleaner and the rooms were brushed by hand. That is not only hard work, but also time-consuming. Time that actually isn’t there.

What is the solution?

The solution is to purchase a large, sturdy vacuum cleaner that can take a beating.

What is the result?

The result is a cleaner house in less time and that is a win for everyone.

Wat is het probleem?

Kleine kinderen worden groot en je kunt niet eindeloos kleren doorgeven aan jongere meiden. De meiden van het weeshuis waren uit hun schooluniformen en schoenen gegroeid.

Wat is de oplossing?

Het laten maken van nieuwe schooluniformen en schoenen.

Wat is het resultaat?

IIedereen begint weer in het nieuw aan een nieuw schooljaar. Niemand valt op omdat ze oude, versleten uniformen en schoenen dragen. De kinderen horen er helemaal bij!

What is the problem?

Small children grow up and you can’t endlessly pass on clothes to younger girls. The girls at the orphanage had outgrown their school uniforms and shoes.

What is the solution?

Having new school uniforms and shoes made.

What is the result?

Everyone starts a new school year fresh. No one stands out because they are wearing old, worn-out uniforms and shoes

Wat is het probleem?

De keuken van het weeshuis wordt intensief gebruik door veel mensen. Behalve de daarmee samenhangende slijtage is er ook een gebruik aan opbergruimte; voorraden liggen in een kamer een verdieping later. Niet erg praktisch.

Wat is de oplossing?

Bouw van een aantal maatwerk kasten, zodat er meer voorraad in de keuken zelf kan worden bewaard. Omdat voorraad en spullen achter stolt en grendel kunnen worden opgeborgen gaat er minder kapot en raakt er minder kwijt.

Wat is het resultaat?

Een mooie, opgefriste keuken met veel bergruimte die veel beter past bij de dagelijkse praktijk van het weeshuis.

What is the problem?

The kitchen of the orphanage is used intensively by many people. In addition to the associated wear and tear, there is also a not enough storage space; supplies are in a room one floor down. Not very practical.

What is the solution?

Construction of a number of custom cabinets, so that more supplies can be stored in the kitchen itself. Because supplies and items can be stored in locked cabinets, fewer utensils get broken or lost.

What is the result?

A nice, refreshed kitchen with plenty of storage space that fits much better with the daily practice of the orphanage.
