De keuken van het weeshuis wordt intensief gebruik door veel mensen. Behalve de daarmee samenhangende slijtage is er ook een gebruik aan opbergruimte; voorraden liggen in een kamer een verdieping later. Niet erg praktisch.
Wat is de oplossing?
Bouw van een aantal maatwerk kasten, zodat er meer voorraad in de keuken zelf kan worden bewaard. Omdat voorraad en spullen achter stolt en grendel kunnen worden opgeborgen gaat er minder kapot en raakt er minder kwijt.

Een mooie, opgefriste keuken met veel bergruimte die veel beter past bij de dagelijkse praktijk van het weeshuis.

What is the result?
The kitchen and eating utensils are in order again; the children and the cook are happy. If only because they no longer have to drink from their plates.
The Nepali Woman and Children Service Society (NWCSS) orphanage is a home for up to 30 (half) orphans, former street children, foundlings, and children who live in adversity due to extreme poverty and/or from single-parent families. They have to deal with various health problems and issues such as addiction, abuse, neglect, or a combination of these problems.
In 2002 a group of women started the Nepalese Women and Children Service Society (NWCSS). Their goal was (and is) to help and support women and children in difficult situations. Their biggest project was starting and running a children’s home in Jorpati in Kathmandu. They started the NWCSS orphanage.
Since then the home moved to another location elsewhere in the neighborhood: at the time no more than a shell of a building. Thanks to the efforts of all involved and outside help it is increasingly becoming the safe haven it should be.

With our support of the NWCSS orphanage, 4 Smiling Faces contributes to realizing the United Nations (UN) SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
Zoals vaak zijn vooral de armste en meest kwetsbare grote en kleine mensen de dupe van crises. Zeker van dergelijk ongekende grote crises als die rond Corona. Velen van de volwassenen in Nepal zijn dagloner, hebben hun baan verloren en verdienen niets meer. Zij leven vaak met velen in een hele kleine ruimte en hebben geen reserves. Zoals de kinderen van het NWCSS Weeshuis. Zij hebben niemand om op terug te vallen en staan er helemaal alleen voor. Nepal heeft geen ondersteuningsregelingen zoals bij ons.
Met veel kunst en vliegwerk proberen de vrijwilligers van de opvang de kinderen toch te ondersteunen. Ze voorzien hen waar mogelijk van voedsel en allerlei andere noodzakelijke goederen, die ze nog wel kunnen krijgen. Ook zijn ze gestart met de verbouw van eigen groenten en fruit, maar dat levert uiteraard niet meteen morgen voldoende op. De middelen van de vrijwilligers zijn echter zeer beperkt en ze hebben nu dringend hulp nodig om de kinderen de broodnodige ondersteuning te blijven geven.

De oplossing is dat 4SmilingFaces geld overmaakt waarmee de vrijwilligers voedsel, noodzakelijke materialen, zaden en groentenplantjes kan aanschaffen.

Het resultaat is dat de vrijwilligers de kinderen van het NWCSS weeshuis verder kunnen helpen met voedsel en andere noodzakelijke materialen.
Often, the poorest and most vulnerable people of all ages are victims of crisis in Nepal. Especially one as big as the Corona crisis. Many of the adults are day laborers, have lost their jobs, and earn nothing. Many of them live in very small spaces and have no reserves at all. Such as the children of the NWCSS Orphanage. They have no one to fall back on and are completely left to their own devices. Nepal has no support measures like ours.
With a lot of improvisation, the NWCSS volunteers still try to support the children. Where possible, they provide them with food and all kinds of other necessary goods, that they can still get. They have also started growing their own fruit and vegetables, but that does not immediately yield enough tomorrow. Furthermore, the resources of the volunteers are very limited, and they now urgently need help to continue to provide much-needed support to the children.
