Karishma

I come from the Himalayan region named “Humla” where there are no required facilities like healthcare, education, transportation, etc. Although I have a large family, my parents can’t afford to give us basic needs and/or more importantly education. My parents wanted to educate us but the financial condition was too poor.

So one day my uncle casually asked me “do you want to study” and I said yes! That is when I was broad to the Lotus family. I came here when I was 5 years old. I am so proud that I found a family here; they treat me like their own daughter.

I have a lot of hobbies like playing outdoors games, dancing, making crafts,etc. We learned taekwondo and it helps me a lot like my body is maintained and got some confidence, self defense and my body became more flexible and active. We celebrate all the festivities including birthdays. We are always excited for the Dashain and Tihar festival; we always go to relatives house to receive blessings.

We celebrate our birthday with lots of joy, and full of enjoyment here. Our mother Binita and father Iman fulfill all our basic needs. They provide everything that I wanted and I am grateful to have them.
We always go for a picnic once in a year or more than that.

I am just finishing my last year of high school. Since I was a child, I was interested in the medical field. Growing up to realize how important nurses and healthcare are for the community so this inspired me to pursue a bachelors degree in nursing and become a skilled and compassionate nurse.

In the future, I hope to serve my community, help patients recover,and make a positive difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse will allow me to fulfill my dream of helping others and contributing to society. Especially in those rural areas where there are no facilities to give healthcare.
