2015 NWCSS Buying stuff

The children of the NWCSS orphanage need all kinds of stuff, for school, for in the home, for hygiene and much more. This time the honour to provide all these things falls to 4SmilingFaces.

Due to lack of adult supervision, the NWCSS children loose or break their stuff faster than in for example in the DRC. You can’t really blame them for that. Blame the leadership.

If the children do not have the right stuff at school, they run the risk of harassment or social exclusion, a real dangers facing children living in orphanages anyway.

We can’t change the leadership of the home, even though we keep trying to make positive changes. This time due to the earthquakes they seem to be making good progress, but whether that will last remains to be seen. Nepal is a typical country for seeing is believing…let’s hope for the best.

4 Smiling Faces

Smiling Faces is the abbreviation for the Helping Hands 4 Smiling Faces Foundation, that was started by Tjitske Weersma in 2008. We improve the living conditions of children in children’s homes in developing countries with specific, small-scale projects in which they are central. We also support them when they have to leave those homes at 18 and have no safety net to fall back on. With us they come first. With our help they’ll go so much further, are they able to make their own choices and can they make shape their own lives.
