2013 DRC Day trip

Almost half of the children in the DRC Nepal can’t or may not go home or visit family to celebrate the Dashain festival. That is the most important religious festival in Nepal and traditionally the time to reconnect with family and confirm friendships. The children are sad about this, because its easy to get bored of waiting during the holidays.

4SmilingFaces wants to change that this year by taking the ones who stayed behind on a day trip to an important place in Nepal: the Kailashnath Mahadev Statue, the worlds largest statue of Hindu god Lord Shiva.

For the children this is not only a whole new memory, but also a highlight of the holidays that will break the boredom. So when the others return, they will also have a story to tell. That’s something you wish for them!

4 Smiling Faces

Smiling Faces is the abbreviation for the Helping Hands 4 Smiling Faces Foundation, that was started by Tjitske Weersma in 2008. We improve the living conditions of children in children’s homes in developing countries with specific, small-scale projects in which they are central. We also support them when they have to leave those homes at 18 and have no safety net to fall back on. With us they come first. With our help they’ll go so much further, are they able to make their own choices and can they make shape their own lives.
