What is the problem?

Dashain is the most important Hindu festival in Nepal. Traditionally, children in Nepal receive new clothes and shoes from their families on this occasion. For the children at the SHCOP after-school care center, this is not an option because their families do not have the money for it. The center would like to honor the tradition, but lacks the financial means to do so.

What is the solution?

This year, too, 4 Smiling Faces is making it possible for the SHCOP children to receive new clothes and shoes. We do this not only because it is a tradition, but primarily because it is truly necessary. Growing children simply need new clothes and shoes regularly. If, in doing so, we also uphold an important tradition, that is truly wonderful. And the fact that it makes the children happy makes us happy.

What is the result?

All children receive clothes and shoes. For many of them, it is the first time they have received something completely new.
