4 Smiling Faces is celebrating its 16th anniversary today. It all began 17 years ago with a trip our founder made to Nepal to see if the children there were as much fun, or perhaps even more fun, than in the Netherlands. The idea was a one-time trip and then to explore the rest of the world.
But things took a different turn: she fell in love with the country and especially the children who live there. At the time, she could never have imagined that 16 years later, she would still be working with such passion and enthusiasm for these children.
But 16 years later, 4 Smiling Faces helps and supports 150 children in three orphanages and an after-school program in Kathmandu. And it works, because the orphanages are doing better, the children are thriving in school, studying, and/or working, and it’s wonderful to see them grow into proud, hardworking adults who contribute to a better Nepal.
